Synthesis
Writing academically for me is hard to do. First it seems like I have really good ideas to write about then when I get around to writing I can't always remember everything I want to say. Sometimes when I write what I want to say comes out all funny or my brain is thinking faster than what I can type which is not very fast. For myself writing creativity is non existent. The people who are able to write creatively are the ones that can pull papers out of their behinds. They are also able to BS their way through some of their paper and make it look like they actually know what they are talking about. I try to visualize what I want to say sometimes it does work for me other times it does not. With multimodal texts I give people a lot of credit for being able to do multidimensional papers. I had a really hard time with mine. The most difficult thing about using sources is whether they are reliable and good enough sources to use.

Research
When my instructors first assign a writing assignment I usually like to pick topics that I'm familiar with. Most of the time my topics will involve the medical field some way or another, because that is what I 'm most familiar with. When I start to do my research I will go to google and get as much valuable information from different websites as I can. I also like to check out books related to my topic from the library at my job. since instructor Medley has taught me to do research with Purdue's online library I can also use that. I also like to use key words so I can get even more information when I'm doing my research. The difference between MLA and APA style writing is Mla writing is primarily for liberal arts and humaniteis. APA is used more for the social sciences

Reflection letter about my hypertext essay
Well I think there would be all kinds of people interested in my essay. I'm not trying to be concieted or anything, but look at the controversy over cognitive enhancers. The types of people who would be interested in my essay the most would be doctors, anybody who is interested in taking brain enhancing drugs , anyone who is already taking these drugs , peole who have tried the brain enhancing drugs, and anybody who is against people taking these medications. Doctors because they are the ones prescribing these medications to their patients. The other people would be interested because they can find interesting facts about these drugs they want to take or already are taking. If they are already taking them it may make them think twice about doing it anymore. The people against other people taking brain enhancers would be happy to see someone like myself against it also. People on the web will be able to read my essay easily without having to strain thier eyes. People will be able to see a different point of view. Most people are for all kinds of brain enhancers I'm not. I'm most proud of the fact that I have done something that I have never done before, and my essay came out alright thanks to my fellow classmates who have helped me on it. (you know who you are) A special thanks to professor Medley you have helped me greatly. I would have wrote better responses. Mine were O.K. but others were better. I would have also put more links in my responses Not be so dependent on people to help me with all the technical stuff in my essay. I would have also made my backgrounds pop more. The sourses I used were imformative for what I was writing about. I feel that my sourses gave the people who will read my essay insight to an ever growing epidemic that may or may not be here for good. My goals are to become a better writer by the end of this semester, more computer literate, be able to revise my papers by myself with little help. Putting an essay for the world to see and read is a huge accomplishment for me and my fellow classmates. As I already have stated doing things for the first time is really something for me to be proud of. Some of my shortcomings in drafting and revising is I use the word it a lot instead of going into more detail. I also don't feel I have the best writing skills. I also don't go into enough detail for my readers, so they can understand what I'm trying to say without having to think about it. hope to retain what I have learned so far in this class for the next assignment we are doing.

Life photos
The photo I chose from Life Magazine was a woman holding a baby. I could tell by the picture that the woman was playing with the baby and making her laugh. I feel the picture relates to pathos because most people get emotional around babies. Babies are cute, cudley and just pure enjoyment. People also love to play with babies get them to laugh, smile throw their hands in the air they get a kick out of it. http://www.stdc.demon.co.uk/felicia/

Semester Topic Proposal
Since my major is nursing the topic I chose to do is the first one. Science and Technology: The good, the bad, and the ugly.In the medical field so many things have changed for the better because of science and technology. I would like my semester topic to be about the different types of medications we have on the market today, to help people with certain types of diseases that once upon a time there wasn't anything people could take to slow down the progression of that particular disease. I should say medicine in general has come a very long way from the early 1900's. I want to improve my knowledge of medications in general. There is a lot of things I don't know a would like to. I hope I would be able to inform my fellow classmates on a lot of things they may not know about dealing with medicine other than they need to take it because they're sick. They're so many diseases in society today every body should be interested in medicine. People get very sick and don't know whats wrong until it may be too late. I'm not sure whether I can change anything about medications, I'm a low woman on a very high totem pole.

How Technology Has Improved my Life
Let me start out by saying technology has come a long way since I was born. Technology is constantly changing always having something new to introduce or make. How has technology shaped my life? How has it not. When I was little we did not have computers. They came out in the 1980's. Cell phones also came out about then. Let me tell you they were not the sleek and small ones we have now . Cell phones were big and clunky. Cameras are also another invention that keeps changing. Today we have 8.0 mega pixel digital camera's. Back in the 70's-80's we had camera's that used 110 film and 35mm camera's. When I was young the biggest video game system was Atarii. Now we have every thing from nintendo to playstation's.In todays society we all look at the next big thing whether we can afford it or not is another question. With my major being in nursing I'll talk about how technology has changed in that field. First until the 1970's there was not a ct(computerized tomography) machine. Today I do not know how hospitals figured out when someone had a stroke or a PE (pulmonary embolism). Medication's are also different way back when nurses had to do math to figure out how much medicine to give a patient. Now in today's society we have everything basicaly pre measured. We have little devices that cut the pills in half if needed. Nurses go to a pyxis to withdraw medicine or take a syringe and draw the amount of medicine needed to the line it needs to be at. Technology is everywhere we look, whether it be from the telivision to our stereo's even our cd players to the mp3 plyers to the ipods.Take the car for instance look at when it first came out in the early 1900's.Ford was the first corporation to make a car. Cars today are so fancy and expensive .Technology is also linked with pop culture. When something new comes out people will wait outside for day's just to get the new hot item.Technology keeps on changing for the better of course whether people like it or not and are ready or not because here it comes..

Cyberculture tody
When it comes to cyberculter I do not have a clue about it. I do not get on line and go into chat rooms so I will not have a lot to write about. First I don't even have a my space account or a facebook account. The only reason I have a blogger account is for English pretty sad. When some people go into chat rooms how do you know who your really talking to? When children have my space accounts why are some parents not worried about pedifiles trying to talk to them? We have so many way's of comunicating in todays society other than the telephone or in person there is just so many things that can go wrong. In class we discussed how people get more personal online than in person. How do we know that who we are communicating with? Is that person really themselves or someone trying to be sombodyelse? anybody can go online looking for a date and give you a picture of sombodyelse and say that's them. People can tell you anything you may want to hear and you start to beleive what they are saying when in realitythey can be as I wrote before a pedifile looking for young children, drug dealers, even criminals. I don't understand how some people can say it gets more personal online or in chat rooms when we don't even know 100% that person even exsits in the real world. From what I just wrote people can see my veiws on cyberculter. I do not agree with it!!

popular culture blog
How has popular culture shaped my life.Well when I was little my mom could not afford to buy all the cool popular things. So I got teased by other kids, pretty cruel to do to a kid. It still happens today with young kids. When I got a job at 16 and realized how much the cool things cost I was not interested in it anymore. I bought stuff from other stores and got more for less. I am into popular music always have been. I went through the tight as skin jeans stage. I am now 34 years old and todays popular clothes are raunchy. Stores are trying to sell hoochy mama clothes for little girls and some parents are buying them then wondering why other people are staring at her daughters. Most of the popular clothes I would never wear even if I had the body for them. I do not see how jeans that show your underwear or the crack of your butt is cool. Some of the fashions that were popular when I was a child are making a repeat appearance. So are some toy's making a comeback. I guess popular culture has not made a good impression on me. I can handle the tight jeans I used to wear them even low cut shirts but the jeans going down to your knees needs to go . I do not want to see someone else's underwear thong!!!
