Since my major is nursing the topic I chose to do is the first one. Science and Technology: The good, the bad, and the ugly.In the medical field so many things have changed for the better because of science and technology. I would like my semester topic to be about the different types of medications we have on the market today, to help people with certain types of diseases that once upon a time there wasn't anything people could take to slow down the progression of that particular disease. I should say medicine in general has come a very long way from the early 1900's. I want to improve my knowledge of medications in general. There is a lot of things I don't know a would like to. I hope I would be able to inform my fellow classmates on a lot of things they may not know about dealing with medicine other than they need to take it because they're sick. They're so many diseases in society today every body should be interested in medicine. People get very sick and don't know whats wrong until it may be too late. I'm not sure whether I can change anything about medications, I'm a low woman on a very high totem pole.

How Technology Has Improved my Life
Let me start out by saying technology has come a long way since I was born. Technology is constantly changing always having something new to introduce or make. How has technology shaped my life? How has it not. When I was little we did not have computers. They came out in the 1980's. Cell phones also came out about then. Let me tell you they were not the sleek and small ones we have now . Cell phones were big and clunky. Cameras are also another invention that keeps changing. Today we have 8.0 mega pixel digital camera's. Back in the 70's-80's we had camera's that used 110 film and 35mm camera's. When I was young the biggest video game system was Atarii. Now we have every thing from nintendo to playstation's.In todays society we all look at the next big thing whether we can afford it or not is another question. With my major being in nursing I'll talk about how technology has changed in that field. First until the 1970's there was not a ct(computerized tomography) machine. Today I do not know how hospitals figured out when someone had a stroke or a PE (pulmonary embolism). Medication's are also different way back when nurses had to do math to figure out how much medicine to give a patient. Now in today's society we have everything basicaly pre measured. We have little devices that cut the pills in half if needed. Nurses go to a pyxis to withdraw medicine or take a syringe and draw the amount of medicine needed to the line it needs to be at. Technology is everywhere we look, whether it be from the telivision to our stereo's even our cd players to the mp3 plyers to the ipods.Take the car for instance look at when it first came out in the early 1900's.Ford was the first corporation to make a car. Cars today are so fancy and expensive .Technology is also linked with pop culture. When something new comes out people will wait outside for day's just to get the new hot item.Technology keeps on changing for the better of course whether people like it or not and are ready or not because here it comes..
